Ikhaya Blog - Market day

I truly love a market day at the Powerhouse, Jan Power certainly does know how to put on a good market! The atmosphere, the people & the fantastic stalls! I love catching up with fellow marketeers & the regular customers who always come by to say hello.

I have my shopping all planned out already, you see it's not just about the selling but also about the buying! Coffee is a definite must - straight after the table is set up it's off to Merlo to get my fix!

This week I am planning on some hand made Christmas cards from Tickled Pink cards to send back to my family in Cape Town. I am hoping that Retro Blonde will be back this week selling their very cool reworked vintage leather handbags.

Another lovely stall popped up last time with beautiful hand made 'Etsy' type purses. They are made from upholstery fabric with some stunning designs - perfect for gifts!

The few things I always buy are a bunch of pink roses, which sit beautifully on my coffee table in an old teapot (that's how they have them displayed at the stall - stunning!). I also can not leave out Boysenbury Jam from the Jam Man, Paul Grainger & cup cakes from the Cupcake parlour - they pretty much get eaten as soon as I get home (before I even think of unpacking my car!).

So much to do & still man the stall at the same time!! I have so many beautiful new things in that you will love, as always they are hand made & really showcase the spirit & soul of their origin - Africa!

Next week I will post some pic of my lovely purchases, see you Sat!
