Ikhaya Blog - Daddy Long Legs Hotel experience

Daddy Long legs is described as the quirkiest hotel in Cape Town by the Wallpaper City Guide

The Daddy Long Legs Independent Travellers Hotel is designed to be like part of an interactive art exhibition. The thirteen-room boutique backpacker is quite unlike anything else in South Africa. Not only is each room uniquely decorated by artist, poet, photographer, designer or musician, but, they were afforded complete freedom to interpret the space as they pleased, resulting in a collection of hotel rooms that are an adventurous, humorous (and sometimes ironic) representation of Cape Town’s contemporary cultural landscape.

The latest project from Daddy Long legs is called 'Air Stream Trailor Park'. For this project they purchased eight steam trailors, imported them and lifted them onto the roof of the Grand Daddy hotel with a crane! Each one has been decorated inside by a different artist (a la Daddy Longlegs hotel), each with a unique theme, some of which are: Afro-Funkd, The ballad of john & Yoko, Pleasantville and Goldilocks & the three bears.

I have to say the concept is so interesting & from the photos looks absolutely amazing - definitely spending a night there on my next trip home!
